Terms of Use

Effective date: August 24, 2026

Agreement

By downloading, installing, or using CommuteBar, you agree to this End User License Agreement ("EULA") with UI Lab Inc.. If you do not agree, do not use the software.

Nature of the Software

CommuteBar displays estimated travel times and routes for driving, cycling, and walking from Apple Maps (MapKit). Those estimates may be wrong, stale, incomplete, or unavailable. UI Lab Inc. does not control Apple Maps data quality, freshness, or availability. Leave-by times, arrive-early buffers, check-from windows, delay badges, and leave-soon / leave-now alerts are computations on top of those estimates and inherit the same limitations. CommuteBar is a convenience utility for informational use only. It is not turn-by-turn navigation, not advice for emergency travel, and not a guarantee that you will arrive on time or avoid delays. Do not rely on CommuteBar as the sole basis for time-critical decisions (including work, school, childcare, flights, medical appointments, or similar). You remain responsible for your travel decisions and for verifying conditions independently when needed.

License Grant

UI Lab Inc. grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use CommuteBar on macOS devices you own or control, subject to this EULA and any applicable purchase terms (e.g., Mac App Store).

Direct Licenses

If you purchase CommuteBar on commute.bar, you receive a license key that may be activated on up to three Macs you own or control at the same time (concurrent activations). Contact support@commute.bar for a seat reset after replacing hardware. The license is for your personal, household, or internal business use; you may not resell it or share the key publicly. A "lifetime" Direct license means a perpetual license to use the CommuteBar builds you purchase or receive, including updates if and when UI Lab Inc. provides them. We intend to maintain and improve CommuteBar, but we do not guarantee future updates, new features, bug fixes on any schedule, compatibility with future macOS versions, or unrelated future apps. Direct builds may check license status online (for example at launch). If the license is revoked or invalid, access may stop after an online check. Temporary network errors generally do not immediately deactivate a previously activated Mac. Gifting: use /gift. We collect the recipient's email (license and download), optional recipient and sender names, your email (purchase confirmation), and an optional gift message included in the recipient's email.

Support

For Direct purchases and general product questions, email support@commute.bar. We aim to reply within two (2) business days (Monday through Friday, Eastern Time). That aim is not a guaranteed service level or contractual commitment, and support availability is not guaranteed.

Refunds and Disputes

For Direct purchases on commute.bar, you may request a refund within seven (7) days of purchase for any reason by emailing support@commute.bar with your checkout email or order details. After that window, we do not offer refunds. Direct gift purchases follow the same seven-day any-reason policy; the purchaser requests the refund (include the recipient email). Any Stripe refund or payment dispute (including a chargeback) revokes the Direct license — including a gifted license held by the recipient — and the licensed app may stop working once it validates online. Mac App Store purchases and refunds are governed by Apple's terms; Mac App Store builds do not use the Direct licensing path.

Restrictions

You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, sublicense, reverse engineer, or create derivative works based on CommuteBar except as permitted by applicable law.

Privacy

Your use is also governed by our Privacy Policy.

Updates

UI Lab Inc. may provide updates or modifications. Updates may be subject to additional terms. Providing updates is discretionary; we strive to improve the app but do not promise any update schedule.

Termination

This EULA is effective until terminated. UI Lab Inc. may terminate your license if you violate these terms or if a Direct license is revoked (including after a refund or dispute). Upon termination, you must stop using and delete all copies of the software.

Disclaimer

COMMUTEBAR IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. Travel times, routes, delay indicators, leave-by times, arrive-early buffers, check-from windows, and leave-soon / leave-now cues are estimates derived from Apple Maps (or computations on those estimates) and may be inaccurate or unavailable. UI Lab Inc. does not control Apple Maps data. CommuteBar does not guarantee that you will arrive on time or avoid delays.

Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, UI LAB INC. SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SOFTWARE, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION MISSED APPOINTMENTS, LATENESS, LOST WAGES, TRAVEL COSTS, OR OTHER HARMS FROM RELYING ON DISPLAYED TIMES, ROUTES, OR ALERTS. TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE SOFTWARE IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR FIFTY US DOLLARS ($50), WHICHEVER IS GREATER. Nothing in this EULA excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including non-waivable consumer protections.

Consumer Rights

Nothing in this EULA limits any rights you have under mandatory consumer protection or digital-content laws that cannot be waived in your place of residence, including where such laws apply in Canada, the United States, the European Union, or the United Kingdom. If any provision conflicts with those mandatory rights, the mandatory rights prevail for that conflict.

Governing Law

This EULA is governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the applicable federal laws of Canada, without regard to conflict of law rules. Subject to mandatory consumer protections that cannot be waived, you agree that the courts of Ontario have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from this EULA or your use of CommuteBar.

Assignment

UI Lab Inc. may assign this EULA to a successor or affiliate. You may not assign your rights without our prior written consent.
